Your Legal Will

Leave peace of mind for your loved ones

One thing is a certain in life - we will all die one day.

The hope is that we have all lived rich, full and loving lives, and that we leave behind people who are important to us. A Will is a legal document, setting out your wishes and intentions for your belongings, your children, your assets and your estate.

Without a legal Will, your loved ones and friends will have to follow the laws of the government at that time (referred to as the laws of intestacy) and there will be some guess work as to what your wishes would have been.

What should my Will include?

Your legal Will should include the following detail and information:

  1. Your full legal name and any aliases you might have. You should also make reference to any names that your assets are registered in (for example, a maiden name).
  2. The full legal name of your executors (the person/s who will be in charge of dealing with your estate once you pass away).
  3. Your wishes as to the guardianship of any children you leave behind that are under the age of 18 years. You can also appoint a back-up guardian too.
  4. Your wishes as to your pets, including any financial legacy you wish to leave with your pets.
  5. Instructions for the distribution and division of your estate, including payment of debts and loans, specific gifts or personal items.
  6. Your preference for a funeral, burial, cremation or interment of ashes.

Your Will shouldn't include matters you don't wish to become public record - for example, it is not recommended to air family laundry and explain why you aren't leaving anything for your estranged sibling in your Will (this is completed in a separate document!).

Is the process of making a Will complicated ?

No, not at all!

At Spirit Legal, we have streamlined the Will making process, to make it as convenient and easy as possible. You can have the peace of mind of having a skilled will lawyer prepare your legal Will at a competitive price, and know that your needs and wishes will be truly effected upon your passing.
